Nolan Chatalas
Hi! I'm Nolan, and I’ve had the great fortune of growing up on Mercer Island, just outside Seattle. This small, close-knit community surrounded by Lake Washington has shaped me in many ways. The island’s natural beauty and strong sense of neighborhood connection have given me countless opportunities to stay active, whether it’s hiking the trails, spending time on the water, or playing tennis with friends and family.
Tennis has become a big part of my life, whether I’m playing at the local courts, competing on my high school’s varsity team, or practicing with friends at our country club. I’m proud to be part of a team that has won two state championships. Tennis has taught me discipline, focus, and the importance of teamwork—lessons I carry with me on and off the court.
When I’m not playing tennis, I enjoy giving back to the community through the National League of Young Men (NLYM). Volunteering with local organizations has been a great way to stay connected and support those around me. Meeting new people and hearing their stories is something I truly value, and it helps me stay grounded in the community I love.
At school, I’m involved in DECA, where I practice business skills in competitive scenarios, and I’m also part of Best Buddies, building friendships with students with disabilities. Both have been incredibly fulfilling experiences that have taught me a lot about leadership, collaboration, and empathy.
Looking ahead, I’m excited for the next chapter. Mercer Island has been an amazing place to grow up, and I’m eager to keep learning, growing, and making meaningful contributions to the next community I join.
